• Bio:

  George Komnas was born in Nikea, a city near the port of Pireaus. At the age of 12 he started taking piano lessons but soon, he gave up the piano courses and started studying Journalism. He worked as a music producer for many Radio Stations until 1995. His love for music and theater led him to his first composition of a play in 1995. It was the score for the play "The Holy Bread". Then he composed music for many theatrical performances and some commercial scores. In 1997 he presented a variety of songs wich were based on the poems of Kostis Palamas, Romos Filiras and Napoleon Lapathiotes. In 2004 he composed the music for the CD-ROM "World Herittage" under the label of UNESCO HISTORY OF ART CLUB and a year later he composed the music for the DVD "The First Population of Nikea Town" under the label of Municipality of Nikea. In 2004 Yiorgos Komnas composed the music for the play of Italian writer MAURA DEL SERRA, "Agnodice". In 2006 he wrote the music for the play about the creations and life of American painter Andrew Wyeth under the title "Through Wyeth's Window". The play was presented by APERTURE TECTONICS THEATER at the PRINCE MUSIC THEATER of PHILADELPHIA, on September 2006 and directed by Paul Blore. On 9 May 2007, at the multi-cultural area "Athinais", the composer, conductor, professor of composition at Boston University and President of Greek Composers Union Theodoros Antoniou rewarded Yiorgos Komnas for his composition "The Walls ". This composition was based on a C.P. Cavafy's poem. In 2007 he wrote the score for the documentary film "MELI: A GREEK VILLAGE IN MINOR ASIA". In 2008 also, he wrote the music for the play "AUDITION", an interactive black comedy theatre play by Antonios Papadopoulos. In 2009 he composed the music and the songs for the theatre play "THE SEA BETWEEN US" by Antonios Papadopoulos. The performances were presented by Ionian Theatre. George Komnas is contributor of IONIAN THEATRE since 1996. He composed the music for many performances for that cast.
